Important Notice About Walgreens

Beginning January 1, 2012, Walgreens will no longer be participating in the Express Scripts/SCAN network.

Express Scripts and SCAN are working together to tell you about an important change: Walgreens* has announced that their stores will no longer be a part of our pharmacy network. This change will happen on January 1, 2012. There are more than 56,000 other pharmacies in our network willing to serve you.

Express Scripts and SCAN will make sure you can still get the medicines you need when you need them.

Walgreens will still fill your prescriptions through the end of 2011, but you might want to move any prescriptions you now fill at Walgreens to another pharmacy sooner rather than later. Think about doing it today to avoid the rush at the end of the year. Remember: You will need to move your prescriptions by January 1, 2012.

It’s easy to find another pharmacy.

There are often other network pharmacies within a few blocks of a Walgreens. Many of our network pharmacies are as easy to get to as your local grocery or other stores where you shop. Choose the one that is most convenient for you. Click here to find other network pharmacies.

It’s easy to change pharmacies.

Move prescriptions to your new pharmacy by doing one of the following:

  • Take your prescription bottle to your new pharmacy; they will call your old pharmacy for you.
  • Call your new pharmacy and ask them to call your old pharmacy.
  • Ask your SCAN doctor to call your new pharmacy with your prescription information.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Remember, your care is very important to us. Feel free to call SCAN Member Services at 1-888-540-7226, 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., for more information. TTY users call 1-800-367-8939.

* Walgreens-owned affiliates include Duane Reade, Happy Harry’s and OptionCare.

Express Scripts is the Pharmacy Benefit Manager for your health plan, SCAN. You will need to get your prescriptions filled at a pharmacy in the Express Script network. If you need medicine right away from a different pharmacy, call us. Some restrictions may apply.

Beneficiaries must use network pharmacies to access their prescription drug benefit. Benefits, formulary, pharmacy network, premium and/or copayments/coinsurance may change on January 1, 2012.
